From maternity through maturity, the Centre for Women’s Health is just for women and their very special health needs:

1st Floor – Women’s Diagnostic Services
Located on the first floor of the Centre for Women’s Health is our women’s diagnostic imaging unit, providing services such as mammography, ultrasound, bone densitometry testing and stereotactic breast biopsies.

South Lake Hospital was the first in the south Lake County area to offer digital mammography, giving a higher resolution of imagery for easier detection of breast diseases. It can detect the presence of cancer in the very early and curable stages, often when a lump is too small to be felt.

Women aged 40 and above should have an annual mammogram. Please be sure to schedule yours early as appointments fill up very, very quickly. Call (352) 241-7135 to schedule your mammogram today.

Bone Densitometry (DEXA) screening
A DEXA screening is the leading diagnostic procedure for detecting osteoporosis, a disease of which women are four times more likely than men to have. Osteoporosis leads to bone mass declining, which can then cause spinal fractures and hip fractures. Talk to your physician today to see if a bone densitometry exam is right for you.

Ultrasounds can help diagnose a variety of diseases, and uses sound waves to produce an image. Breast, pelvic, kidney, abdominal and other types of ultrasounds are available, including 4D ultrasound which allows expectant moms to see their babies in utero in real time!
Physician offices

2nd floor – Mother-Baby Unit
Each time a baby is born in the Centre for Women’s Health at South Lake Hospital, a lullaby is played throughout the hospital to welcome a new life into the world.

Our labor/delivery/recovery rooms are large and spacious, so you can share you and your baby’s special moment with one or several family members in a comfortable environment.

Our Mother-Baby unit has a security system to protect our mothers and babies. Visitors must be let in as the doors entering and exiting the unit are locked to ensure you and your family’s safety.

Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies

83 West Miller Street
Orlando, FL 32806
(321) 843-9792

Since opening in 1989, Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children & Women had become the hospital of choice for thousands of families and families-to-be. With more than 11,000 babies born at Arnold Palmer Hospital in 2004, the hospital had one of the busiest Labor & Delivery Units in the nation. Only the addition, expansion and redesign of space could solve the challenges of caring for the children and women of Central Florida.

To that end, we embarked on the most significant expansion plan in our history. Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies, a 285-bed, 400,000 square-foot care center designed exclusively for women and babies, opened on May 30, 2006. Located directly across the street from Arnold Palmer Hospital, all 11 floors of this progressively-designed structure are dedicated to our expanded gynecological, obstetric, and neonatal services.

Housing these services together in their own facility freed existing space at Arnold Palmer Hospital, allowing for expansion of our pediatric services. Arnold Palmer Hospital became a dedicated children’s hospital focused solely on specialty and subspecialty healthcare for children. An integral part of the children’s hospital is the Bert Martin’s Champions for Children Emergency Department & Trauma Center. The two hospitals are linked by a special pedestrian bridge for added efficiency. Together, Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children and Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies form Arnold Palmer Medical Center – the largest facility dedicated to children and women in the United States.
